How lovely that you are here. I am Sandra, a painter and printmaker with a studio in Palma de Mallorca.
Growing up in Switzerland, I quietly wished, even as a little girl, to live by the Mediterranean one day. Even then, the colours of Mediterranean nature moved me.
A six-month studio grant in Genoa led me to Mallorca, to an art residency in Alaró. The planned four months turned into years. I stayed in the village, found a small flat, and in 2010 finally a house in Palma, where I have lived and worked ever since.
It is the wonderful light of the island that still enchants and carries me today. My works arise in dialogue with this warm light and the natural stillness of the island, and the colours of the Mediterranean find their way onto paper and canvas.

The Pearls
Between the large-format works in my studio, small sheets keep appearing, 10×10 centimetres, mostly on paper. They are colour studies, sketches, playful moments full of lightness, before I return to the large format. Each year brings its own theme and its own technique: mostly acrylic and mixed media, in recent years also combined with sand.
I did not want to call these small works sketches. They are more than that. Little pearls that I find in everyday life, the way you pick them up on the beach. That is how the name came about: Pearls of Mallorca. For around twenty years the series has been growing, each sheet with its own title, each year with its own palette. They bring a touch of holiday feeling and the rhythm of the island into your home.
Now, at last, I am making these pearls available as framed art prints, printed by a renowned print-on-demand provider, produced sustainably and locally. In the shop you can conveniently browse by colour and order the small works to your home in just a few clicks.
